Liberty Gunsmithing is located in south Austin and is a local owned and operated family business. We may be a new start up to the Austin and Central Texas area, but those that run and operate the shop are not. With Veteran Gunsmiths you can rest assured that you are getting the best service in the Central Texas area. Most shops will advertise that they do firearm services, but what sets us apart is the knowledge base and experience that you can't get anywhere else.
We strive to make all of your firearm needs a one stop location with the best service. Even if your firearm only needs a deep cleaning every now and then, all the way up to refinishing and machine work. No gun is too small or job too big. Not only will we try our best to accommodate your firearms needs, we'll be honest with you about it.
We offer a wide variety of services that are almost too many to list out effectively. If you want to look at the most common ones with pricing please see our services offered.
We are currently having a hard time keeping up with the demand in our local area. The past year we have seen a number of shops either completely close down, or at the very least fold up their service departments. At the same time there have been a number of excellent gunsmiths in the area retire as well.
This has created a lower supply of available gunsmiths while maintaining the same area demand. To put it simply, we have been overwhelmed by the amount of customers coming to us from the locations that had to shut down their gunsmithing services. Our work load has increased exponentially and while we have hired on additional help it doesn't seem to be enough right now. We were not ready for this massive amount of influx in gunsmithing work, and are trying our best to work through this transition period finding the right balance of personnel.
LGS has always been adamant about having a staff of gunsmiths run the shop, so that our customers are always talking to experienced subject matter experts, and not just a front desk phone service employee. The draw back to this is that with all the new customers we have coming in, balancing out our one on one time with our customers and our time working on our projects is proving difficult.
We will push through this obstacle in the near future, but currently we are experiencing some massive growing pains that we didn't plan for. To all of our customers that have projects with us, we appreciate your patience as we try our best to get your projects done as quickly as we can, and apologize that many of our deadline projections have been missed. Hopefully in the next couple of months we will be able to balance out the chaos.
Temporary Expectations:
With all this being said, please understand that we are not responding to status updates requests at this time, and the few we do respond to will be delayed by several business days. It doesn't seem like that big a deal from the customer end to spend 3 to 5 minutes on the phone to update, but when you multiple that by about 3 dozen, we loose entire work days of time. Especially when we have to stop what we were working on in the first place to facilitate the inquiry and then get back on track with the original project.
There will also be many times over the next few weeks when our phone and email response time will be very slow and may take multiple business days for us to respond. This will get better with time as we find the happy balance, but currently the existing projects we have in are our top priority.
